A Night at the Opera

This superb concert from Calibre Productions features glorious highlights from many of the world’s favourite operas. Powerful heart-wrenching moments from Puccini and Bizet sit beside glittering gems from the pen of Lehar and the majesty of Mozart, while illuminating and amusing stories truly put the music into context both within the operas and the lives of their composers.

A fabulous company of world-class singers bring this glittering performance to life. Soprano Jo Appleby, one of the original members of Amici forever, has sung to huge audiences in some of the most prestigious venues around the world. Mezzo soprano Hannah Pedley has sung to great acclaim with many of the UK’s opera companies and is well known for her concert and oratorio work with such companies as the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and The Sixteen.

Tenor Wynne Evans performs regularly with English National Opera, Welsh National Opera, Scottish Opera and Opera Northern Ireland, among others, has worked as a soloist with all the major UK orchestras and has been tenor soloist at the opening night of the BBC Proms and the Welsh Proms.  Baritone Mark Evans (yes, he and Wynne are brothers) has an equally impressive CV and has sung with all the major UK opera companies, most recently as Marcello in La Bohème for Welsh National Opera on tour to Japan.

A Night at the Opera offers a mix of arias, duets and ensembles and is truly a diverse, passionate and exciting experience. Musical accompaniment is provided by the critically acclaimed Schomberg String Quartet and pianoforte.
